In this study paper, LTCOL Trent Scott expresses his view that the absence of relevant operational art may result in future ADF leaders being inadequately prepared to use operational art when required. He continues to state that Campaign planning doctrine is based on flawed assumptions and processes which are losing relevance in an increasingly complex operating environment. Rectifying this situation requires the expenditure into the JPME system, and incorporating operational design into planning doctrine. The study paper is a vehicle for progressing professional discussion and debate concerning military strategy, in particular land warfare concepts and capabilities.
