The Forge serves as an online platform dedicated to fostering the intellectual growth and proficiency of individuals involved in the Profession of Arms. This novel approach to military education is delivered through the auspices of the Australian Defence College (ADC), an institution dedicated to facilitating the professional mastery of Defence organisation members.
The Bellows is The Forge editor’s blog. It is a channel through which we at The Forge can let you know about changes and upcoming events. We have called it The Bellow as ‘bellows’ are used in the operation of a forge, and the word also means to yell loudly.
Competitions are used to prepare personnel for the demands of training and educating military forces. These competitions may help personnels put in their opinions, experience, creativity and new understanding with a focus on leadership, culture, and ethics in the military. By exploring these topics, participants gain a more immersive and engaging learning experience, improving their professional military education.
Features of up-to-date posts, articles, and news stories shared from a variety of online sources. Feel free to share and/or recommend anything of interest via our Feedback Form to help create, shape, and foster the ADF's 'intellectual edge'.
As part of the Joint Operations Planning module of the Australian Command and Staff Course (ACSC), students are tasked to research and submit a paper on a given topic. The works that follow represent some of the best writing during the course.
The papers are the original work of the authors, and although selected as quality papers, they should not be taken as the position or view of the Australian War College (AWC) or the Department of Defence. We hope you enjoy this selection of papers.
