War College Papers

As part of the Joint Operations Planning module of the Australian Command and Staff Course (ACSC), students are tasked to research and submit a paper on a given topic. The works that follow represent some of the best writing during the course.

The papers are the original work of the authors, and although selected as quality papers, they should not be taken as the position or view of the Australian War College (AWC) or the Department of Defence. We hope you enjoy this selection of papers.

The class of 2020 were given a choice between addressing the utility of Operational Art and Operational level for middle powers like Australia, or examining the relationship between Operational Art and Decisive Battle.
