Colonel Phil Baldoni enlisted into the Army in 1998 as a Cavalry Trooper and entered the Royal Military College in 2000. He graduated into the Royal Australian Corps of Transport. He has served in a variety of regimental positions in road transport and movements control roles, and was the commanding officer of the 9th Force Support Battalion in 2019-2020.
He has also worked in sustainment and logistic support to operations in Army Headquarters, Headquarters Joint Operations Command, and Joint Logistics Command. His operational experience includes deployments to Australian and multi-national headquarters in Iraq and Afghanistan. He graduated from Australian Command and Staff College in 2014, and the Defence Strategic Studies Course in 2025.
He holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies with a specialisation in Peace Studies, a Masters of Military and Defence Studies, a Masters of International Relations and a Masters of Business Administration. In 2026, he posted back to Joint Logistics Command as the Commander of Joint Logistics Unit Victoria.
