Lewis Frederickson

Lewis Frederickson is a currently serving Air Force Officer within the History and Heritage Branch - Air Force. He previously lectured in the history and strategy of air power as the Chief of Air Force Fellow at the University of New South Wales and the Australian Defence Force Academy. During the course of his military career, Lewis deployed several times to the Middle East Region, and he has enjoyed the gamut of staff, training and operative appointments – though, particularly his service as a Qualified Aviation Instructor. 

His interests and studies in history, archaeology, literature, society and culture all dovetail neatly with his role as an aviator and educator and the themes in this article. His forebears served on Gallipoli and the Western Front, and he considers it an absolute privilege to share the research and stories such as those depicted in this article.
