Whispers of Eternity

You call for me,

But are met by silence.

You reach out to me,

But can’t find my guidance.

You search for my face

And wait for a while,

But you find empty space

Where I once used to smile.

All the laughs we would share

Will echo no more,

All the hugs yet to share

Ripped from our core.

I know you will cry

And be hurt so deeply

When you say your goodbye

To me silently.

As I take my leave

From friends and family

Take all your time to grieve

Fully and gently;

But I have not died

If you remember me,

I have not died

If you still think of me.

When you laugh at a joke

Or words that we spoke,

When you remember that time

Both mundane and sublime

That we spent together

In the glistening hour.

Even if you forget

And move on with life,

Please have no regret

For I am in no strife;

As your lives continue

Mine begins anew,

I’m alive in the dew

And in all I once knew.
