Sharryn Parker

Lieutenant Colonel

Sharryn is a civilian in the Department of Defence. She is also an Army reservist, and in 2025 is representing Army on continuous full-time service at the National Security College, the Australian National University. Prior, she held multiple roles in the Defence portfolio, principally in intelligence practice, intelligence capability, and strategic assessment. Sharryn holds a Master of National Security and Strategy (Leading International Policy), a Master of Military and Defence Studies, a Master of Intelligence Analysis, and a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Intelligence. She is a graduate of the Defence Department’s Australian War College, the Australian Command and Staff College, and the ANU Asia-Pacific Centre for Security Studies. Sharryn’s current research interests include the application of statecraft in strategy, intelligence tradecraft in practice, leadership in geo-strategic competition, and the intersection of science, emerging technologies, and national security. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor pursuits, staying fit, and travelling with her family.
