The Australian Defence Force is exploring new ways to prepare its people for strategic competition and war. Virtual and augmented reality, simulation, and games can create a more immersive and engaging learning experience. Science-fiction can offer novel perspectives on education and training to better prepare for future challenges in conflict. The Australian Defence College invited submissions of works of science fiction to explore the idea of improving education and training. Submissions were judged based on originality of ideas and quality of storytelling.
